Forest Bathing

What is forest bathing?

This wonderful Japanese practice, also known as shinrin-yoku, is a gentle process of relaxation. The simple but hugely effective method of being calm and quiet among the trees, observing nature and breathing deeply, is a great way to de-stress and boost health and wellbeing. And what’s more, it’s one of my favourite practices.

“In nature, nothing is perfect, and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.” Alice Walker

During sessions, participants will be encouraged to turn off devices, slow down and connect to the natural world. In Dr Qing Li’s, ‘Into the Forest’ book, he describes forest bathing as, “simply being in nature, connecting with it through our sense of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch,” and I couldn’t agree more. It’s the simplicity that I love.

Forest bathing can also promote mindfulness practice and positive breathing techniques. During sessions, I offer specific activities to help participants connect with nature. These are designed to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing and guide them towards a more meaningful way of life.  Each session ends with refreshments and a closing circle.

“Look deep, deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
