Forest Bathing

What is forest bathing?

This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; known in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help people de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.

“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful” Alice Walker

During the session clients will slow down in nature and connect to the natural world. As described in Dr Qing Li’s book into the forest – ‘it is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our sense of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch’. Forest bathing can also promote a mindfulness practice and promote positive breathing techniques.  During the session clients will be offered nature connection activities, which are designed to enhance clients physical/mental wellbeing and lead to a more meaningful way of life.

We will finish the session off with refreshments and a closing circle.

Forest bathing is a wellbeing practice and the benefits can be:-

  • Boosts your immune system
  • Improves mental wellbeing
  • Aids sleep
  • Can lower blood pressure
  • lifts mood
  • Increase focus
  • Promote mindfulness techniques

‘Look deep, deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better’
